Common questions
Where did my deleted photos go?
Backspace never deletes anything permanently on its own. Items you remove go to your Photos app's Recently Deleted album, where they're recoverable for 30 days before iOS removes them automatically. Open the Photos app → Albums → Recently Deleted to restore something.
Backspace says it can't access my photos. How do I fix that?
Open iOS Settings → Backspace → Photos, and choose "All Photos" (or "Selected Photos" if you'd rather limit which items Backspace can see). Then relaunch the app.
The app isn't showing any photos. What's wrong?
This is almost always a permissions issue. Check Settings → Backspace → Photos as above. If access is already granted and your library is still empty, try force-quitting and reopening the app; if that doesn't help, email us with your iOS version and we'll help you track it down.
How does the sorting work?
Backspace ranks every photo and video in your library by file size, largest first, so the biggest space-wasters are always the first ones you review. Nothing needs to be configured. It's the default and only order.
Does Backspace upload my photos anywhere?
No. Backspace makes no network requests at all. Everything happens on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Still stuck?
Email backspace@stefandas.com with a description of what happened and, if you can, your iOS version and device model. It helps us reproduce the issue faster.
